Digital Media
Germantown Academy's Upper School (Grades 9–12) is home to a vibrant and active media arts community that has produced a number of award-winning films and served as a springboard for many alumni who have gone on to rewarding and successful careers in the film and television industry.
As part of the Upper School curriculum, GA Digital Media students are first given a strong foundation in the concepts and principles of good design, 编辑, sound and video production, with an emphasis in learning the techniques utilized by innovative filmmakers and digital media producers, before further experimenting and mastering their craft in advanced courses. Each spring, student work is featured at the Best of GA Video Assembly.
In the honors level Digital Songwriting and Audio Production course, students enjoy a highly collaborative environment to experiment with the recording and instrumental design process in a studio lab. Recording techniques, MIDI programming, and sound design are combined to create original music and audio recordings. Each spring, students perform their original works as part of a songwriting showcase (see video).
